My Story
Endometri… what?!
Was the first thing I said to my doctor when she suggested that I may have endometriosis. Like many women when I first heard of endometriosis I had no idea what it was or how much it was going to change my life.
Hi, I am Emily West, and in the middle of 2019, I was diagnosed with endometriosis, which explained why I was suffering for so many years with symptoms such as painful periods, bleeding for long periods of time, bladder and bowel issues, fatigue, and the list goes on. After coming to terms with my diagnosis and realising how many women suffered from this disease I knew I had to do something to help. With the lack of limited research in this area, this led me to currently completing my Masters Thesis (Psychology) where I looked at women living with endometriosis experiences of painful sex and the impact this has on their sense of femininity and sexuality. One thing that many people with chronic illness or mental health issues have is the feeling of hopelessness and thoughts on how do we deal with this? This inspired me to create channel wellbeing. With many years of studying psychological behaviour and working in the mental health field, I want to be able to share resources and inspire people on ways how they can cope with diseases such as endometriosis and empower people to take control back of their own lives.
I believe not only endometriosis but mental health issues and other diseases should be looked at from a holistic point of view. When our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing is not balanced then we are more likely to suffer from chronic pain, disease, and mental health issues. However, there is no one size that fits all when it comes to healing. This is where channel wellbeing comes in, to share a variety of resources, coping strategies, and some products that may be able to make your day that little bit easier.
